romaniaIT Initiative

romaniaIT is a public-private initiative set up in 2006 by a group of stakeholders that included ministries, industry associations and companies interested in promoting the national IT industry abroad. The new brand was internationally launched in March 2007, at CeBIT Hannover, the most prominent IT&C fair in Europe.

romaniaIT is governed by a Sectorial Branding Committee, in which the following organizations are members:

  • MECMA – Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business Environment
  • MCSI – Ministry of Communication and Information Society
  • ANIS – Employers’ Association of the Software and Services Industry
  • ANISP – National Association of the Internet Service Providers
  • APDETIC – Association of Producers and Distributors of IT&C Equipment
  • ARIES – Romanian Association for the Electronic Industry and Software
  • ATIC – Association for Information Technology and Communications

Brancusi’s Infinite Column: The reach for perfection

The Infinite Column (sometimes called the Endless Column) is the outstanding monumental sculpture of Romanian artist, Constantin Brancusi, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.Erected in 1937 and reaching a height of 29.33 meters (96 feet, 3 inches), the towering Infinite Column, consists of a series of repeated modules, threaded like beads on a wire. As a series of connections, the Infinite Column has come to be recognized as a symbol of the endless goal of perfection and serves as an influential model with significant and transferable meaning.

The Infinite Column is used to represent Romania’s ICT industry, as the symbol embodies the distinct qualities of Romania’s talented and ICT professionals, who strive for continuous improvement and education in technology and creativity. It underscores a unique quality of Romanian culture: living links between the present and its ancient past.

As with this sculpture, they are grounded in the nation’s traditions of technical excellence and constant learning with a national focus on the achievement of the most modern of technical innovations.
