Romanian IT industry is back on track, as companies project steady growth for 2011

Preliminary estimates for 2010 indicate a growth of 10% of the exports-generated turnover for the software and services sector in Romania.

Romanian software exporters are picking up speed in re-balancing sector turnover, following the severe slowdown in 2009. Recent announcements from companies predict interesting evolution on the labor market, as recruitment figures are again on the rise. This is a direct consequence of increasing volume and number of projects that Romanian companies have been involved in over the past year. Companies have played their cards well maintaining the privileged position in customers’ preferences, reflected by the competitive advantages they have been sustaining for the last decade.

In 2010 more Romanian companies announced significant growth of operations – both on incoming projects and investment side. Several companies have been expanding their regional presence and have become important actors on the Central and Eastern European technology market.

Foreign investors’ interest towards Romania is on the rise again, as two international technology companies opened representation and development centers in Romania in the last couple of months. Although rather silent for the couple of years, foreign companies seem to be picking up interest in mergers and acquisitions on the local market – a clear indication of stability and foreseeable growth opportunities.

As global economy becomes more and more technology driven, with a growing need of efficiency and timely response in production, processes, interactions and general management, opportunities for Romanian companies in the software and services segment are arising. Industry expertise and technical capabilities are an excellent combo of advantages in working with Romanian companies.
